Out of the projects from last semester i watched the epic meal time video because i used to watch those videos in my spare time. Although the video project seems like it might be simple it isn’t. I see a lot of problems with editing in the video. Not all of the video is in sequence. The picture quality isn’t going to be that good for the production because we will probably be using a phone on a camera which doesn’t usually produce the best quality for videos of this nature. There could be a bit of a sound issue during the video but i don’t think this will occur too often because even the cheapest microphones now a days have pretty good quality. The   only poor sound quality that might occur would be from the wind. I do believe there would be an issue with the different schedules that everyone has. Sometimes there might be 3 people in my group who can work together but one person who cant and that may conflict with our shooting schedule.

Persuasive Games

The game i played was the killer flu game. It was a very interesting game in how it gives a brief overview on how the flu virus is spread throughout the world. It’s also a very tough game to conquer. I worked hard on it for while to try and get the population up to 50% infected but i just couldn’t do it no matter how hard i tried. The object of the game is to get people infected around the population. What makes it so difficult is that you’re the overlord of the infection and you decide on where you want the other people to go. The trick is to use a truck into driving to other towns to get more people infected. The only problem is that people become immune to the virus relatively quick and cant spread it anymore. At first i didn’t really like the game because i hadn’t grasped the concept fast enough. Then, After about 3 or 4 games i figured out how to get more people infected at a faster rate. It’s not a game that i plan on playing ever again because it is mostly a waste of my time to even want to play it. Although this doesn’t put all the factors into how a virus spreads it give an easy understanding of how a virus can start.

Bias is one of those types of things that will be around forever. It’s located in almost every form of media we have today. Majority of bias is based on political views that certain people in the media have.  For instance the New York times newspaper is an extremely liberal newspaper but it didn’t always used to be like that. Back when it was first started it was a conservative form of media. How are we as the common people supposed now which facts are true that are stated in the news? There is so much bias that one cannot determine if the statements stated are skewed or not. Media is so opinionated that any one person not frequently following politics or a certain topic can be drawn to one or the other side of a story. Bias is incorporated in all forms of writing. I consider myself an independent when it comes to politics but if there is a certain topic that i am for or against i am going to strongly write about how i feel about the subject. Yes there are many facts for a subject but it all comes down to how a writer uses those facts in his or her writing. How are the audiences to know what’s right and what’s wrong. I prime example of this is during the Vietnam war America’s gov’t skewed the media by saying everything is going well overseas but when a news reporter went over there to see what actually was going on; it was a horrific sight. America was not doing as well as the people thought they were. Opinions are part of everyday life but how are we supposed know what is really happening and how can we determine if the facts stated in these opinions true or false.

Does playing video games cause violent behavior among children?  is it their parents fault for buying them the games?

Does watching tv excessively  actually rot our brains? Can do the opposite? Has it made the new generation lazier?

The ad company of UGGs tries something bold in this ad by using brady. The ad starts out with someone running with Uggs on and the shoes keep changing as the commercial goes on.  It shoes the person walking and then running to show that the uggs aren’t just for style but that they can also be used recreation-ally. Uggs uses Tom Brady really well in there add.  Most people think of Tom brady as pretty boy who cares about fashion…sorta. Brady is also considered jock so most men can relate to him and what he stands for as a man. By having a jock in their commercial, Uggs draws in the attention of men who are sports fans and who wouldn’t normally buy uggs because they are known as a women’s company.  Brady is an elite athlete and by having him in this commercial makes a man(or some men at least) want to buy Uggs.  By focussing in on Brady’s feet for the first part of the commercial it makes the viewer want to know who’s feet they actually are. Once they show who’s feet they actually are then the viewer is either drawn in or is pulled away because the viewer either likes or dislikes Brady with extreme passion.

1) I see a fiery inferno. 2) The gum is in the middle of the ad. 3) The main slogan is in bold lettering. 4) Underneath the main slogan is smaller lettering which is hard to read. 5) The background is an explosion. 6) The explosion has many different colors. 7) The top left of the ad is all black. 8) The name of the gum is called flare. 9) There is a slight glow around the pack of gum. 10)  The paragraph is very descriptive.

The author of this ad is obviously an animal lover but he also brings the non animal lovers to have remorse for the whale.  The whale is the man point of the illustration; it has graffiti written all over it like it is some kind of wall. It is a reference that humans are polluting the water and killing some of the wild life that lives in the oceans. The whale draws in the main attention of the ad and then the readers eyes quickly are drawn to the small text that states “what will it take for us to respect the planet.” The visual rhetoric in this ad makes the reader feel sadness for the animal and also for earth.

There are two main images to this ad that bring out the meaning of it.  The first is the tiny bowl of food that states “more power, less consumption.”  The second image is the huge great Dane standing over the bowl.  They both intertwine to state a point about a car for BMW.  The author of this ad is trying convince someone who wants more power with a car but takes up less gas to by this car.  The dog represents the strength and beauty of the car, while the small bowl of food represents that the car needs less fuel but can still have the power to do what any ordinary roadster can do.
